I thought creating a full body creature was going to be a lot harder than it really was in the end.
After studying the form and the movement of the animal I was able to create a base armature out of foil and wire. This provided the basic structure that I then used to create the creature.

| Once the polymer clay was applied to the foil armature it began to take on a little more form. Though in the beginning it looked like just a ball of flesh. After hours of molding the clay on the armature it began to take the form of an actual creature, and after a while longer it began to look like a leopard. |
After all the details had been placed and the creature had been baked it was time to bring life into it. After laying down a white base I applied a few different grays to act as a base coat. This base coat allowed a texture to be created and continue through out the piece as more layers of color were added. I continued adding color layers with a hard brush to add in the look of fur and then sponged on the spots and surrounded them with a darker outline. | |
I enjoyed this piece in the end because it was a challenge to create and a lot of fun to work with. I enjoyed the challenge of creating a creature, as I had never done anything of the sort before. I think the pose of the animal was the hardest to work around because it was so compact and small it made painting and putting on smaller details a little more of a challenge. The painting of the animal was not so much of a challenge, I found it quiet easy. Though getting the brown spots on the feet took a little longer than I would have liked.
