For this project we where able to experiment the 3-D printer, image far left, with plaster, image far right, and a silicone mold which I then used hot glue to make the piece in the middle. This was a fun project because the pieces had to be able to become a Christmas ornament and hang from a tree. We were also supposed to use some inspiration from something around us to create our pieces.
The first piece, on the far left, is a representation of the 7 Dragon Balls from Dragon Ball Z. I chose this reference because it is my boyfriend's favorite TV show of all time, so I thought, it was only fitting to make him a Christmas ornament.
The piece in the middle, along with the one on the far right, are based off of my favorite movie, Beauty and the Beast. I have loved this movie since I was a small child and I wanted to do some project based around it. This was the first time I had made a silicone mold (the stuff smells terrible!) and it was definitely an experience. Making the hot glue piece out of the mold turned out very interesting. I was not able to get the hot glue in every part of the mold so it often left open pockets that gave the form an interesting texture and look.
